Jennifer Bethke has been busy guest curating an exhibition for the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, located in the city of Sonoma, CA. The exhibition, titled Realism, Really? Today’s Contemporary Realists, explored the expansive boundaries of contemporary realist painting. The show presented a selection of California artists who focus on diverse aspects of realism in their work: Chester Arnold, Guy Diehl, F. Scott Hess, Marina Moevs, Douglas Fenn Wilson, and Jeong Im Yi. Earlier in the year, Bethke published an essay on the history of portrait photography, which was included in Sonoma County photographer Bob Cornelis’ book Studio: 50 Sonoma County Artists(Color Folio Press, 2014).
